Kailua, Kona Hawaii | Honokohau Harbor | Moku + Keala

In the beginning of October, I had the chance to fly out to Hawaii for one of my friends weddings (click here to see it!) and while I was there, I got to take pictures of the cutest couple during the the most perfect, magical sunset at Honokohau Harbor (aka Turtle Beach because this is where you can find lots of em’!) in Kailua, Kona Hawaii!

Keala reached out to me when I announced on my Instagram that I'll be in Hawaii and wanted to do a fun photo shoot! I was super excited that she reached out and wanted to get their photos taken by me!

Moku + Keala both grew up in Hawaii and just recently moved back to the Big Island from California where Moku was pursuing his dream of becoming a jiu jitsu world champion. After winning 4 titles, they decided to move back to the Big island and are working towards opening up a jiu jitsu academy to be a positive influence on the youth in Hawaii.

We had SOO much fun during this photoshoot and the sunset was absolutely breathtaking! I honestly didn't want it to end!

I used to live in Hawaii, so it was so awesome to be able to come back here with my sister and relive all the fun memories. One of my favorite places that we got to visit was Mauna Kea beach, back when I lived in Hawaii, it was my favorite beach to go to because it is one of the prettiest beaches i've ever been to! If your ever on the Big Island, this place is a must visit! We also got to stop by Kohala Coast Gallery where some of my dad’s paintings are, walk through Waikoloa Village, visit the Kona Farmers Market where they have the BEST tropical fruit, and make daily trips to Sack n Save to get the best Poke bowls! If you've never tired poke, you have to cause its the best!

Anyway, I could go on forever about all the things I did there and the things you should do if you ever go there, so enjoy these pics of the cutest couple ever!

We lucked out big time crossing paths with Annie! She was shooting a wedding in Hawaii and looking to expand her portfolio with a romantic sunset couple shoot while here. She put the word out and a friend of a friend (coconut wireless is the real deal in Hawaii!) referred us. I was excited to get some recent photos done and began perusing Annie's portfolio and fell in love with her style. Her photos capture so many warm and fuzzy feelings. From the moment we met, Annie made us feel at ease.

She is a master photojournalist, capturing candid shots that inspire you to relive that moment when you get to gaze at your photos. I really appreciated her direction during the shoot too - we never once felt that awkwardness of not knowing what to do or how to pose. Girlfriend has vision and tons of inspirational pose options!

Annie is a very talented photographer, but more importantly, she is friendly, professional, easy to get along with, interesting to chat with, and a joy to be around. We hung out with her as though we'd been long time friends who were catching up. You'd never know we had just met! We would unreservedly recommend Annie again and again!

Me ke aloha pumehana a me ka mahalo piha loa, (with the warmest aloha and great heartfelt gratitude),

xoxo,

Moku & Keala Kahawai
