There is something special about the Oregon Coast. & Something about the curveballs the pacific northwest can throw and how much magic can come from a simple afternoon on the sand. Shooting on the beach has always been a favorite of mine, I guess you can say I’m a water girl at heart, but on this particular August day I got to see the Oregon Coast come out in full force.

Alex and Kathleen had gotten in touch with me about shooting their engagement on a local Oregon beach where the mountains meet the waves and if you look in the right spot, you just might find a waterfall! But as I was driving to our session, I was surrounded by those green Oregon trees, fog and a pouring rainstorm. Just our luck. But ever the amazing people they are, Alex and Kathleen decided to just enjoy the day and say come what may…

And I must say, while the moody PNW vibes were immaculate (once the rain became a light sprinkle and the fog lifted to an overcast), the best part came when Alex and Kathleen left to change into their next outfit.

Out of absolute nowhere, the clouds parted and the beach, waves and mountain side were bathed in the most amazing golden hour I’ve ever seen. Alex, Kathleen and I sat at watched the sunlight come down for a few minutes before realizing what we were there to do. And let me tell you, that particular backdrop partnered with Alex and Kathleen’s minimalist, neutral style created one of the most perfect, classy engagement sessions I’ve ever had the privilege to shoot! So I hope you see the beauty of the PNW in these photos because this was an afternoon I’ll never forget!
