Rowena Crest, Oregon Engagement Shoot | Denis + Katia

“Denis asked Katia to marry him and to be his wife. Katia knew that this man was the one God had prepared for her and even though they haven't been dating for too long, she knew he was the one. Denis and Katia saw God's hand and goodness in their relationship from the beginning and know He will be to the end.”

Hi friends!

One of my favorite things as a photographer is when my clients and I stumble into some sort of creative greatness... when minds stay open, expectations stay low and some kind of magic starts to flow.

When I met Denis and Katia, they said they wanted a springtime engagement session to celebrate the newest chapter of their lives, and to also create the perfect wild, romantic and free photos for their wedding invites. We decided to do the session at Rowena Crest in Oregon, a spot that has fields of wildflowers that bloom in the springtime!

But I have to admit, like all things when you have a plan in place, nothing actually followed it.  After arriving at Rowena Crest, we took photos in a few different locations and tried to find our groove for the session, but with the high winds and unseasonal crowds, we had our work cut out for us. Rather than get discouraged or settle for less, Denis and Katia were more than willing to let me continue to scout out the perfect, private place! And man oh man did we stumble across gold...

There on the side of the road, the perfect corner caught my eye.  A small flower field off the side of the road with a view of mountains and rivers and the waning sunset providing the perfect backdrop!  And perfect it was.  This spot turned out to be even better than the first, and the best thing was that we had it all to ourselves (one of photos at this spot  actually became their wedding invite!) Denis and Katia were able to find a new level of comfort in each other and in the camera and through the lens I saw gold.

So as you look through this, I hope you feel a sense of a wild, sweet romance and if you are about to take photos yourself or are looking for some inspiration, you are reminded to stay authentic to yourself and trust the process.  When you do that, the magic happens ;)

Yours,

Annie

PS: Denis & Katia also had a highlight video shot of their engagement if you’d like to take a look here !
