Romantic Griffin House Wedding in Hood River, Oregon | Luis & Jen

A Griffin House Wedding Overlooking the Columbia River Gorge

There are some love stories that remind you the best things in life are worth waiting for. For Luis and Jen, it all began in dental school. They met as classmates, and the connection was instant. Not long after, life took them in different directions. Luis moved to Anchorage, Alaska to begin his career as a dentist, while Jen still had two more years of dental school ahead of her. At first, they weren't sure a long-distance relationship could work. But sometimes you meet someone who makes every mile worth it.

A few months later, they decided to give their relationship a real chance—and it became one of the best decisions they ever made. Seven months after that, Luis surprised Jen with a proposal at the very place where they had their first date in Laguna Beach. The place where their story began... became the place where the next chapter started. After celebrating their wedding surrounded by the people they love most, they're now beginning another exciting adventure together—moving to Anchorage after their honeymoon to build not only their careers as dentists, but their marriage as well.

Their story is such a beautiful reminder that life doesn't always unfold according to our plans. Sometimes, it unfolds into something even better.

When it came time to choose where they'd say "I do," Luis and Jen couldn't have picked a more beautiful place than The Griffin House in Hood River, Oregon. Perched high above the Columbia River Gorge, The Griffin House is one of those venues that instantly takes your breath away. From the sweeping views to the peaceful atmosphere, every corner of the property feels intentional and inviting. It's elegant without feeling overdone, refined without feeling formal, and it creates the perfect setting for couples who want their wedding day to feel both beautiful and deeply meaningful.

One of the things I love most about photographing weddings here is how naturally the day unfolds. The historic home offers beautiful spaces to get ready, the ceremony lawn overlooks the Gorge, and the entire property allows your wedding to flow effortlessly from one moment to the next. You never feel rushed, you never feel like you're bouncing from location to location. Instead, you're able to simply be present.

One of my favorite things about Luis and Jen's wedding was the way they looked at each other throughout the entire day. After everything it took to get here. Dating long distance, finishing school, countless flights, planning a wedding, and preparing for a move to Alaska. They were simply grateful to finally be in the same place with all their friends and family and to finally begin forever together.

This is your reminder that your wedding isn't about perfect weather, perfect timelines, or making sure every little detail goes exactly according to plan. It's about marrying your best friend. Everything else becomes part of the story you'll tell for years to come.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at The Griffin House

As a wedding photographer, beautiful scenery is always a bonus. But what makes The Griffin House truly special isn't just the incredible views. It's how the venue allows couples to experience their day. There's space to breathe, space to slow down, space to soak in every hug, every happy tear, every quiet moment together before the celebration begins.

That's where the magic happens.

Because the photos you'll treasure most aren't always the perfectly posed ones. They're the in-between moments. The deep breath before walking down the aisle, the smile your partner gives you during the ceremony, the laughter during cocktail hour, the sunset portraits where, for just a few minutes, it feels like the rest of the world disappears. Those are the moments that bring you back to how it all felt. And that's exactly what I hope every gallery does.

Vendor Team:

This beautiful day came together thanks to an incredible team of talented vendors. It was such an honor to work alongside each of them to bring Luis & Jen's vision to life.
