The Portland Studio | Alena Kalacheva

Let’s just say studio shoots are now a new favorite of mine!! This was my first time shooting at a studio and it was SO much fun! It was nice to be able to get creative and shoot something that was out of my element! The Portland Studio, located in the heart of downtown Portland, offers such a unique space with lots of natural light, cool props, plants, and backdrops and it was the perfect setting for Alena’s portraits!

Alena was wanting to get some portraits taken for her new single, Your Love In Me, and I was super excited and honored when she asked me to take her photos! We took a variety of photos using the black and white backdrops to create some stunning and moody portraits that incorporated the industrial feel that The Portland Studio has.

Studio shoots are a new favorite for a couple of reasons.

Being a photographer in the Pacific Northwest, 75% of the time, its cold and rainy - so getting to shoot inside a studio that is nice and warm was refreshing haha. There was no worry about what the weather would be like, or how cold it would be. Instead, we were in a warm studio, with coffee and lots of snacks!

Studio shoots are a perfect choice if you want cozy photos and don’t want to run around in the cold rain. Whether you want some portraits of yourself, some branding content or want some cuddly photos with your boo, you can’t go wrong with doing them at a studio!
