Sedona, Arizona Elopement | Tim + Mila

Hello hello my friends!

It’s been a while since I shared another gallery with you but before I do I just want to say….I’m a sucker for big, traditional weddings!   I love the excited energy, the sentimental moments, the thought out reception details, as well as a good dance party at the very end of the night! I really do!

But in my line of work I spend a lot of time chatting with newly engaged couples, and while your wedding day celebrates two people, and families, coming together, a lot of my couples don’t allow themselves the opportunity to dream up any “outside the box” weddings.  So let’s be clear on this now:  IT’S OKAY TO ELOPE!  And I thought it would be fun to list out a few reasons why you should, or at the very least consider, eloping!

  1. It can actually save you money!!   Imagine not spending your savings on venues, food, hotel deposits for your guests?!  Yes of course there are different expenses for elopements (gas or plane tickets, random fees, room & board)  and some of the typical wedding expenses you’d imagine regardless where you do the darn thing -- the dress, photographers, marriage certificates etc.  But in the long run, eloping doesn’t have to be such an expense unless you want it to & you have a little more control over your overall expenses (I’m looking at you wedding venues!)

  2. It saves you stress!!  No guest lists or seating charts, no arguing relatives or hurt feelings over people who didn’t make the cut! The biggest stress about your day should fall somewhere in the realm of time moving too slowly or too fast! Not settling the drama before, during or after!

  3. It can be more authentic!!  However you decide to elope your personality and relationship will shine through just by the way that you plan the day, the location and who is there (both of your parents, just you two and a photographer, a small group of your absolute favorite people) !!

  4. It creates a longer celebration!! Once everything is said and done there will be people who will want to celebrate with you regardless of a big wedding or elopement, because chances are someone wasn’t able to make your day. And either way you decide to go, they’ll convince you to throw an epic party!! So why not save some stress and money and opt to celebrate a little longer by throwing the party of the century for your loved ones back home?! And for those out of towners that we love too!! (heck! It might be another excuse to travel too!)

I know that a lot of people in your life (maybe even yourself)  have been waiting and dreaming of this day.  But if you take anything away from this post, know that people will always have their opinions!!  Just because you decide to celebrate your love and commitment in a “nontraditional” way by NO MEANS MAKES YOUR MARRIAGE LESS VALID. Heck 9/10 it’s the party your guests remember, so let the sentimental moments be just for you!  Do the beach wedding, National Park or Vegas drive through….just go! Make it the most authentic day to you!!!  And know that no matter how you decide to make your day special it will absolutely be perfect!!

Yours,

Annie
